Cultural and creative industries
What do composers Antonín Dvořák, Bohumil Smetana and games like Mafia, Kingdom Come and Beat Saber have in common? They showcase the creativity of people from the Czech Republic. And we would like to create even better facilities and conditions for them.

We draw creativity wherever we can
Creatives are said to be the engine of the 21st century. Creativity is simply a fundamental theme on which many activities and projects are based, and our society is moving forward as a result. We can find it in many fields – in economics, science, culture, education and others. The Czech Republic is one of the European leaders in terms of technologies.
Prague is attractive for educated and creative workforce
We consider the development of the cultural and creative industries to be one of the fundamental pillars of Prague’ s Innovation Strategy. There is an enormous potential for progressive product design, expansion of the Design Thinking approach and other creative techniques.
These techniques enable innovative modelling of services and processes, including the deployment of selected technologies, educational and other social and leisure activities.

We perceive mutual cooperation as the basis
We select the most interesting projects from the cultural and creative sectors emerging in the capital city and we try to coordinate all the actors involved. Cultural and creative industries are represented in different fields, and therefore it is essential that these professionals can meet.
In developed western countries, the cultural and creative sectors are prioritised, whereas in the Czech Republic they lie on the side lines. We are working to ensure that the cultural and creative industries can become a full part of the innovation plans and of the Regional Innovation Strategy for Prague (RIS3), so that available financial means can be used as much as possible.
And what all are we planning?
The specific project which the Prague Innovation Institute and Creative Prague are working on is the Creative Incubator. It is to be established in the Holešovice Prague district by 2025. Its aim is to nurture promising talents who are born in the cultural and creative industries but leave Prague due to the lack of opportunities.
This is the area where the city’s support should be directed. In the future, creative vouchers (similar to those in Brno) should operate in Prague as well. Their aim is to give opportunities to promising talents and projects with great potential, such as students from UMPRUM, so that they can learn how to price their work as well.

And who all belongs to us?
Cultural and creative industries have a total of 13 sub-areas. Game developers, for example, have an excellent business track record and need to be encouraged so that they do not to leave the city, but set up their studios in Prague. Game developers achieve excellent export results. Even though they represent the Czech Republic unobtrusively abroad, they are already a full-fledged part of the Czech startup business sector and need representation abroad.
Jakub Bakule, Developer for Cultural and Creative IndustriesCulture is not made due to the economy, but because of society. It offers innovative development which no one can steal from the Czech Republic.
