Background facilities in Prague

Do you work in basic or applied research or innovations? Are you planning to move to Prague and are you looking for local background facilities? In cooperation with the Expat Centre, we will help you with the administration and its arrangement. It is a well-known fact that someone needs a desk and internet connection, while another one needs a workshop, laboratory or production hall.

Do you need a just table and a connection?

Those who need just a desk and a connection can start their business for example in one of the coworking centres that offer just that.

A desk (shared or reserved), internet connection, meeting room rental and the opportunity to meet other beginning or already more advanced entrepreneurs. At the same time, you will also have the opportunity to participate in various workshops. You can choose, for example, here. Alternatively, we will be happy to advise you with other places.

Do you need your own office?

Those who need to have their own offices will find a wide range of options in Prague. From instant offices and shared offices to entire office buildings. Some owners rent out individual offices, others will rent you a floor level.

Virtually every real estate agency will help you with your search. For a list of members of the Association of Real Estate Agencies in the Czech Republic, please visit www.arkcr.cz. You can filter for purely Prague locations. For beginning entrepreneurs, there are several innovation or business incubators where you can also rent smaller office premises, but sometimes it is a precondition to be accepted into their incubation or acceleration programme.

Here you can find a few incubators to give you an example:

Are you looking for rather a lab?

If you need a workshop, laboratory or manufacturing premises for your business, the situation is a bit more complicated as the premises must be designated/approved for such purposes. Again, real estate agencies/offices can help you, some of which are even specialised in so-called industrial properties.

Alternatively, you can try one of the private science and technology parks in Prague surroundings:

Help with product and technology development

If you need help to complete the development of a technology or a product or to test them, one of the research departments of universities, institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences or so-called public research institutions can help you.

For a fee as so-called contractual research. Alternatively, there are companies (mostly privatised former state research institutes) focussing on contractual research.

Universities, institutes of the Academy of Sciences and public research institutions usually have technology transfer offices/centres which can help you find the right research institute and negotiate the price and other details of the contract with them:

Private research institutes (but also some of the public ones) are mostly members of the Association of Research Organisations, a list of its members can be found at ww.avo.cz.
